Shànghai Zhíwùyuán (Shànghai Botanical Gardens)

Located on Longwu Road and founded in 1974, Shanghai Botanical Garden is the largest municipal botanical garden in the country. It is divided into areas of plant evolution, environment protection, potted landscape, herbs, greenhouse for exhibition, orchid, model landscaping and plant hall. It is a comprehensive garden in the training of introduced species, scientific research, scientific knowledge popularisation, education, sightseeing and production. In the past years, the garden has introduced and collected from abroad many kinds of ornamental plants, especially the rare and almost extinct species. It has several times won prizes in the international flower shows in Canada and Holland. Shanghai Botanical Garden, with its colourful plant display, appeals to visitors with its natural charm and attracts people for a long-time admiration.
